Bruce Wood Writing


A former staff writer and editor for several small daily newspapers, Bruce Wood has written sports, feature and human interest stories for numerous publications, professional newsletters, trade journals and websites. His work has appeared in the Boston Globe, Philadelphia Inquirer and Baltimore Sun among other newspapers. He’s written for Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, Middlebury Magazine, an NBA game program and magazines on pro golf.

He is the author of the the ESPN College Football Encyclopedia’s Ivy League football chapter for which he contributed the essay, The Roots of the Game: The Resilient Glory of Ivy League Football.

He’s covered the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, the Masters at Augusta National, two U.S. Open Golf Championships, the NCAA baseball tournament, minor league baseball, the NFL and preseason NBA, auto racing, Penn State football, minor league baseball and virtually all of Dartmouth’s 34 Division I sports.

He lives on a dirt road with his wife Mary, daughter Kelly (a 2014 Dartmouth College graduate), son Matt (Penn State ’16) and a golden retreiver on the shoulder of Moose Mountain in Etna, N.H.
